January Update

Happy New Year!  I hope you had wonderful several weeks celebrating and resting with your families.  As we welcome the new year and return to Awana, I bring some important news. Due to the new surge and spread of covid, including our staff, the church has temporarily closed in-person activities. As a result, we will have Awana online for the next two weeks and will follow up on the status after two weeks. I hope that this is not discouraging news and that we can all work together to create a good learning space for our kids.

Each club (Cubbies, Sparks, T&T) will meet in separate meeting rooms on zoom at 7 PM and have their opening ceremony, lessons & small groups within each rooms.

Please follow the instructions in the email sent out for our online Awana to run smoothly this Friday (1/7). If you did not receive the email with the links, please contact us at awana@ncbc.org

Awana In Person!

We are so excited to welcome our children back to Awana in person this year!  Please continue to pray for our children and the Awana leaders as we partner together to raise up our children in God’s word.

We will begin check-in tomorrow at 6:50 PM. Please arrive before 7 so we can begin our opening ceremony at 7 PM in the main sanctuary.

On the first day, we will be adjusting and focusing on the kids so please be patient and wait for our parent orientation NEXT WEEK. In the meantime, we will keep you informed via email.

Pick up will be at 9 PM in the courtyard (outside the fellowship hall).  Please come on time and wait for them to be dismissed. ALL KIDS must be picked up by a parent or a designated guardian.

Thank you,

P. Rebecca

Drive-Thru OCC

Thanks to so many of our families packing boxes at home, our “drive-thru” OCC was a huge success! It was a true joy to see our Awana students in person and to pray with them over their thoughtfully packed shoeboxes. Please continue to pray over these boxes and that the message of Jesus Christ will be carried from these boxes into the hearts of children across the world. Through our small effort, God can do amazing things!

Heart Night

This week is “wear a heart night”. Please wear something that has a heart or you can simply make a heart cut out from paper and put it on your shirt.  We are celebrating this month of LOVE where we see hearts everyone as everyone is talking about love.  Come to Awana to find out what where the greatest and truest love comes from!

January Recap

Wow, is it February already?  We are well into our second half of Awana.  The week of January has been an eventful month to say the least.  We learned abut what it means to be a missionary and how we can learn from well known missionaries in history, how we can support missionaries afar, and how we can be a missionary, right here where we are.  Thank you for your continued support for our missions fund.  We have been doing very well and we will continue to collect into February and will let you know how much we have collected in all.

Building our foundations on the Word.

We began collecting for our missions fund to be sent to a missionary abroad.

We made “homeless bags” we can keep in our car to give out when we see someone who can use it.

They also carefully picked out a track that contains the gospel message to be included in their bags so that we can give them a more eternal gift.  That’s what makes us a true missionary!

We also learned and practiced how we can share the gospel to our friends using colors.  We made bead bracelets that we can use to share.

Let’s not forget about our Cubbies!  They have been learning so much as they hear the Word, watch puppet shows, play games and make crafts.  They have also been collecting for our missions fund this month!

Missions Month

Welcome back everyone!  January is missions month here at Awana.  We  kicked off the month by learning about what a missionary does and how we can help missionaries through prayer and donations.  We also learned that we can all be missionaries right where we are!

On 1/23, we will start collecting donations for our designated missions fund.  We have asked the students to start saving up their allowance or find creative ways to raise funds by  helping around the house or selling homemade items.  Please encourage your children with your support and  stay tuned for more details!

Decemeber

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

December has been a wonderful month of Awana, as we are reminded of one of the greatest joys of all time, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  All the teachers and volunteers worked so hard and had so much fun that we couldn’t capture much of it in photos.  Throughout the month, we shared about God’s greatest gift, Jesus Christ.  We also  shared some of the ways we can help and serve others by writing and hanging our commitments on our star garland and had our first store night of the year.  Last but not least, we ended the month with a Christmas party, where we sang Christmas carols,  made instruments, exchanged gifts, and had a time of Christmas caroling in the courtyard with candles as a way of sharing our light to our community. What a fun and blessed time!  We pray that you will enjoy your holiday season with your families for the next two weeks of break and look forward to seeing you back in the new year!

There will be NO AWANA on 12/26 and 1/2.  We will resume  again on 1/9/2015.
